Code Enforcement Delayed

On 26 March 2018, the DGA Board unanimously passed a vote to delay the enforcement provisions of the DGA Code of Practice until such time that the DGA Code Guidelines are complete.  The commencement date of the DGA Code of Practice has not been delayed, and qualified members will still be required to comply with the spirit of the DGA Code.  However, the Code Authority will not be called upon to enforce the DGA Code Principles until the DGA Code Guidelines have been complete.  Members are expected to promote their compliance with the spirit of the DGA Code from 8 May 2018.

The vote follows the concerns raised by some members in relation to the interpretation of various Code Principles.  The DGA Board decided that it is in the best interests of members and industry to finalise the DGA Code Guidelines to ensure members understand their obligations under the DGA Code Principles and have clear guidance in relation to compliance.

The drafting of the DGA Code Guidelines have commenced, with the Community Expectations Working Group in the process of finalising the Guideline on ‘community expectations’.

DGA will provide its members with regular updates in relation to the DGA Code of Practice and the DGA Code Guidelines.
